Church Newsletter July 2026
How do we bring Jesus to different groups with different needs?
ToTs (Together on Thursdays) welcomes, with our Methodist friends and for practical reasons in their Church, parents/carers with little ones to meet, play, hear stories and songs – a first introduction to Christian company and faith. Messy Church (monthly on Sunday afternoons) brings together a large group for creative play and activities, again in a Christian context.
The Carers’ Café offers company, encouragement and help to all carers. It meets roughly monthly.
The Discipleship Group (now 35 strong) is for Christians (new or ‘old’) is for people who want to grow in faith and action by sharing thoughts about chosen Bible readings, daily on WhatsApp.
Midweek Communion (Wednesdays at 9.30) is a short traditional service with a reading, talk and prayer. There’s also a monthly Communion in the Hall (first Wednesday of the month, 3pm) particularly suited to older, less mobile people.
Communion at Grangefield is invaluable to those who now live there and can’t get to Church.
The Julian prayer group values prayerful silence. It meets on Friday mornings in Church once every few weeks.
The Friday Friendship group (in the Hall, 2.30-4.30) is a warm community for anyone who needs just that – friendship!
The Christmas and Easter Experiences, supported enthusiastically by EBPS, see large numbers of children in Church and reinforces basic Christian Good News!
Evensong (6pm on the first Sunday of the month) is traditional worship with hymns, psalms, sung responses – and teaching.
The All Together intergenerational service (first Sunday, 10.00) is literally for all ages. We explore faith in different, often creative, ways.
The main Sunday service (at 10.00) includes modern and traditional music and is our biggest get-together, involving many ‘helping’ roles. And the Church is open 10-4 every day. Visitors and locals pop in for peace, prayer or historical interest.
Looking through, it’s quite a list! Can YOU help with something? And … how can we better reach out to the village in general????

A message from Derek, Our Treasurer
The PCC has agreed to renew Sarah Howes contract as our Children and Youth Worker for a further year until the end of August 2027. The initial funding that we had to employ Sarah will run out at the end of this year so we continue to look for further financial support for this important work. If you feel able to make a one-off or regular contribution towards our Children and Youth Worker Fund, please contact me at: treasurer.earlsbarton@outlook.com or on 07543 400385.
A message from Catherine, Our Music Director
There will be NO service of Evensong at All Saints on Sunday 2nd August. However, you are all welcome to join a service of Evensong on that day at 6pm at St Mary Magdelene church in Ecton, where our choir will be helping to lead the service.
Looking further ahead, on Sunday 6th September our usual Evensong service will be replaced by "Hymns and Pimms." This will be a Songs of Praise service, requested by several members of our church family. People are invited to choose a favourite hymn and tell us why it is so special to them. Look out for forms and a box in which to put them at the back of the church. It would be lovely to have a wide variety of hymns, so don't be shy - tell us what you would like to sing! Refreshments, including Pimms, will be served after the service. All are welcome, so please invite family and friends to what should be a very enjoyable evening.

FAIRTRADE NEWS
A recent addition to our range is the SUNSHINE NUT Company based in Mozambique- Did you know that nearly 70% of the cashews imported into Europe travel from Africa to Vietnam or India for processing, leaving farmers with only pennies while value and jobs shift overseas? Obviously, it’s not good news for the planet either with those extra miles travelled across the globe just for processing.- Not so with True Origin’s newest producer partner, The Sunshine Nut Company, they’ve built a world-class cashew roasting facility in Mozambique, run almost entirely by local employees.- As a Certified B‑Corp, they reinvest distributed profits back into Mozambique, creating tens of thousands of jobs, planting cashew trees for smallholder farmers, building homes for vulnerable families, and supporting orphan care and community development. - And what really helps is that the cashew nuts are just so deliciously crunchy! There are plain ones with no added salt, garlic & herb flavour and sweetly spiced. Do pop in to buy some and enjoy them for yourself & see the pic of Fairtrade steering group members enjoying testing them out!
